Poll monitor records violations in second round elections to house
Voters using mobile phones to photograph and film inside the polling booth was among the violations recorded by a poll monitor yesterday. A number of voters were seen filming or taking photos inside the polling booths using mobile phones, Bahrain Transparency Society which is monitoring the parliamentary and municipal elections revealed. Other violations detected include campaigning by candidates near the polling stations.
The society stated that electoral campaigns were conducted within 200 meters of the polling stations by candidates even after the elections began in a last-minute bid to sway voters. The society also noted that use of children for electoral campaigning continued yesterday. The society spokesperson Sharaf Al Mosawi said that some voters were found to be using mobile phones inside the polling station in violation of the rules.
