Cabinet resigns

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired an extraordinary session of the Cabinet at the Gudaibya Palace yesterday, where he announced that the resignation of the government had been submitted to His Majesty. The resignation follows the official announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections for the fifth Legislative Term, in accordance with Article 33 of the Constitution that stipulates the formation of a new Cabinet at the start of a new legislative term. The government has had the honour of shouldering the responsibilities entrusted to it by HM the King and has endeavoured diligently to achieve the objectives and aspirations that embody the visions of HM the King and fulfil the wishes of the citizens despite the challenges, mainly economic, at every stage, HRH Prince Khalifa said.

Despite the challenges, the government has succeeded in maintaining the accelerated pace of the development process in the economic, educational, health and housing fields, the Premier said. “Despite our achievements, our ambitions still lead us towards achieving the best for our nation and citizens.” Assigned His Majesty yesterday issued Royal Order 55 of 2018, accepting the Cabinet resignation.

Article 1 stipulates the acceptance of the Cabinet resignation from the date of the issuance of the above-mentioned royal order. Under Article 2, HRH the Premier has been assigned to take care of urgent state affairs pending formation of the new look Cabinet. Under article 3, the Royal Order shall take effect from the date of its issuance and publication in the Official Gazette.
