Efforts to thwart Iran plots lauded

US Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, has praised the continuous partnership between Bahrain and the US, and commended the tremendous efforts exerted by the Kingdom to expose the malicious activities of the Iranian regime in the region. Speaking during a press conference in which he displayed Iran-made weapons that are used to destabilise the region and the world, Hook stressed that Bahrain exerts tremendous efforts to face extremism and terrorism through which the Iranian regime seeks to subvert the stability of the kingdom and the region.

The US envoy’s statements come at a time when Bahrain succeeded, through its ongoing security efforts, in countering many interference attempts by Iran and in thwarting the Iran-backed schemes in recent years. He said that there is a range of Iran-made weapons, such as sniper weapons, explosives, RPGs and others, that had been supplied to the US by the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that Iran had provided these weapons to extremist groups with the aim of carrying out terrorist attacks targeting Bahrain. Hook extended sincere thanks to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, for his full commitment to uncovering Iran’s malevolent activities.

The US envoy highlighted the Iranian regime’s approach in destabilising the region, whose countries, he said, have suffered a lot from such a regime over the past years, which should be faced openly, he stressed. Hook lauded the efforts of the Bahraini Embassy in Washington, and its constant cooperation with the US Administration, stressing that his country backs Bahrain and appreciates its efforts in dealing with extremist groups, and affirming that cooperation between the two countries is essential in achieving security and stability in the region.
