Monopolistic practices harming media’
Monopolistic practices along with corporates controlling media houses have led to the deterioration in the quality of journalism across the world, said veteran Indian journalist Thomas Jacob.
Mr Jacob, who was honoured with P V Vivekanand Memorial Award for Excellence in Journalism, was addressing a forum organised by Chiranthana, a social organisation based in Dubai, along with UAE Exchange.
McIndies Holding Chairman and The Daily Tribune Managing Editor P Unnikrishnan was among the media personalities honoured at the event.
Tributes were paid to veteran journalists in the region including late P V Vivekanand, who headed Gulf Today as well as The Jordan Times.
