Second phase of water park project to commence soon

The Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning announced that it would begin the implementation of the second phase of the water park project in the Capital. The project is part of the ministry’s initiatives to promote sustainable urban development.

Speaking to Tribune, Saleh Taradah, the head of the Board of Capital Secretariat, said the second stage of the 6.57-hectare park project is the main stage which includes the restoration of the green patch, preservation of all existing trees and lakes, provision of a shaded walkway and shaded areas for families along with limited investment space for the establishment of restaurants and cafes.

“The water park is the lung with which Manama breathes, similar to Park Centre in New York City and Hyde Park in London. “The Capital Governorate has 39 parks and gardens, but the water park holds the best reputation among the people of Manama,” he said. Essam Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, said the ministry is working on developing the level and quality of services and projects provided to citizens and residents in different regions of the Kingdom. “The ministry has sponsored the second stage of the water park project, which costs BD2.7 million. The project includes the restoration of the park including the re-establishment of green and water bodies and the establishment of facilities and services and parking for cars and vegetable garden and others.”
