‘Youth must lead the way’

Youth must lead the way as they stand to gain from the more safer, more stable and prosperous future, said Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha, while delivering his speech at a cultural event which marked the visit of Indian Youth Delegation to Bahrain. “India is a youthful nation, 65 per cent of its population is under the age of 35.

The youth has the potential to transform the nation. In many western countries, the median age is over 40. But, throughout the Arab world, the median age is under 30. That is what demographers call a ‘youth bulge’. “We believe that there is no shortage of ‘Sense of Mission’ in the youth. They want to put their innovative ideas and solutions on the ground in a more efficient and economical way. We believe that they should be encouraged to achieve that objective.

“Young men and women like you are bringing new energy, creativity and dynamism to markets, to schools, to universities like this one, to government, and – I hope – to diplomacy and international relations,” Mr Sinha pointed out. “Youths must lead the way. Youth have most to gain from this safer, more stable and more prosperous future. Having a magnitude population of young people offers us a golden opportunity to accelerate sustainable development and achieve global peace and security.”

Mr Sinha said the landmark visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to India in February, 2014, was a turning point in the bilateral ties between India and Bahrain. “The visit of youth delegation from India will go a long way in further enhancing interaction and cooperation between the youth of our two countries,” he added.

The event held at the Embassy premises was attended by Ambassador Tawfeeq AlMansoor, Assistant Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; First Deputy Speaker of Bahrain, Senior Government Officials, other Bahraini Dignitaries, Bahraini Youth delegations and members of the Indian Community in Bahrain.
