BD1.8m Busaiteen Waterfront Development Project ‘underway’

Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam Khalaf, said that the Busaiteen Waterfront Development Project will be the first of its kind in Bahrain to use renewable energy, noting that 25 per cent of the project has been completed. Speaking to members of media, during a field visit to the project to inspect the construction works there, the minister said that the project is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2019.

He pointed out that the two-kilometre-long BD1.8 million-project, covering an area of 43,000 square metres, and designed in coordination with the Muharraq Municipal Council, is one of the strategic projects for the development of marine coasts in the Muharraq Governorate. The minister noted that it features an open seafront, a public square (plaza), green spaces, family restrooms, facilities, restaurants, services and parking lots, which makes it an integrated recreational facility that would contribute to boosting internal tourism, and provide a new outlet for Bahraini families.
