Donkey beauty pageant a big success
Awasuf, a pale donkey was crowned the most beautiful in the Kingdom at a beauty pageant held for donkeys in the Northern Governorate. The event was held as part of a series of cultural activities that were organised in Saar. A number of donkeys of varying colours and different breeds ‘contested’ for the title.
Apart from the pageant, a donkey race was also held in connection with the event. Speaking to Tribune, one of the organisers, said, “The audience came in huge numbers and it was a unique cultural event. We had competitions for different categories.” The competitions held included beginners’ donkey race, 600m donkey cart race, donkey beauty contest and 700m horse race. The champions for each category were: Beginners donkey race – “Abo Al-Dahab”, 600m donkey cart race – “Montasir”, Donkey beauty contest – “Awasuf”, and 700m horse flat race – “Nawras”.
