Exam leak forces resit

The Education Ministry has fixed a resit date for students of all public schools after it was found that question papers of a recent examination were leaked. A recent examination at public schools came under controversy after it was found that a teacher leaked the examination question paper to a group of students.

Reportedly the question paper was leaked for the subjects Social studies and Arabic language. According to sources, the teacher leaked the question paper to a WhatsApp group which comprised a group of students including her son. Reportedly, the teacher sent the question paper 30 minutes before the exam.

The ministry has announced that a resit exam will take place on the coming Monday. The social studies test will take place from 8:00 am to 10:00 am while the Arabic language test will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The ministry denied social media reports that had claimed that the results of the initial exam would stand regardless of the leak. The resit would apply to all students of the particular grade.

According to sources, the school involved is a public school in Isa Town. The ministry stated the violations are serious and that it will take every measure to ensure that it is not repeated in the future. It was claimed that the teacher obtained the copies of the question papers following an unauthorised entry into the administrative office where she photographed the question paper. Reportedly, her colleagues are alleged to have assisted her through the violation and are also under investigation along with her.
