Cabinet reviews oil, gas projects

The Cabinet chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister yesterday, reviewed the government’s progress on oil and gas sector projects intended to ensure sustainability and international competitiveness.

The total investment in major development projects within Bahrain’s oil and gas sector is estimated at $8 billion and is as part of a priority infrastructure development programme worth $32 billion, the largest in Bahrain’s history. The projects include the Banagas expansion plan, LNG terminal project, oil pipeline project, Bapco expansion project, airport fuel tanks project, as well as the oil and gas exploration project.

The Banagas expansion and the oil pipeline projects have recently been completed, and a further two projects will be completed this year. These include the LNG terminal project and the airport fuel tanks project. The Bapco refinery modernisation project will finish during the second half of 2021.
