iGA begins distribution of new-look ID
Newborn Sultan became the first Bahraini to receive the new, revamped ID card, yesterday. The issuance of the newlook ID card got underway as Sultan’s father was handed over the card yesterday.
The Information and eGovernment Authority ID Card and Population Registry Director Shaikh Subah bin Hamad Al Khalifa received Sultan’s father to hand over the identity card at the Muharraq Seef Mall Identity Card Centre. Shaikh Subah congratulated Sultan’s father along with other IGA staff. Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohamed Ali AlQaed said that the first pilot phase of issuing a new identity card (ID) will be – at present - limited to Bahraini newborns.
The ID is issued in accordance with the legally approved fees of BD2 – meaning there are no additional charges. “As part of implementing the first phase of issuing the entirely, newly-revamped identity card; the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) handed over the first issued identity card to the parent of the newborn ‘Sultan’ who is the first Bahraini newborn to receive the new revamped ID during the first phase dedicated to the Bahraini newborns of 2019 only,” the IGA stated in a press release issued yesterday.
“It is worth noting that iGA has announced – during the current month - that it began issuing the new identity cards which keep abreast with the latest international technologies and in accordance with the international standards of ICAO. “The ID cards are also better in quality of production to resist and reduce damage and attain clearer data such as change of font and position of ID’s expiry date.
