School Mini Olympics preparations underway
Preparations for the sixth edition of the School Mini Olympics, organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), is now underway. The event brought up in cooperation with the Ministry of Education will see schools from all over the nation in the fray. 22 team and individual sporting events were confirmed with initial registration starting on 17.
Deadline for accepting entries is February 7. Not any player will be allowed to register after the specified period. A technical meeting will be held on February 17, it was announced. 12 players are eligible to represent each of the teams in the football championship, including eight on the field. Events part of the Mini Olympics will be held at Isa Sports City, Khalifa Sports City, Umm Al Hassam, Bahrain International Circuit (cars and bicycles) and the Polytechnic University tennis court.
During a meeting of BOC Project Directorate, Mariam Abdul Jabbar from the IT directorate gave a detailed report on how to use the electronic registration method. The meeting was attended by projects manager Lounes Madene, senior management specialist Mamoon Al-Khateeb, specialist Jawahar Abdullah, Maryam Abdul Jabbar of the Information Technology Directorate, in addition to Ministry of Education’s physical education head Dr Nader Jamali, Hani Hussain Ali and Fatima Hassan from the Physical Education department.
