HM King restructures MoF

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday issued a Royal Decree re-organising the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and National Economy. As per the decree, the Minister of Finance and National Economy will be responsible for Public Debt Management Office, Future Generations Reserve Fund Council, Control and Communication Directorate and Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information, Undersecretary of Financial Affairs and Undersecretary of National Economy.

HM the King also appointed Hamad Faisal Al-Maliki as Undersecretary of National Economy at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy. Another Royal Decree issued dealt with the organisation of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).   Other decisions include naming Shaikh Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa as Director-General of the Office of the First Deputy PM with the rank of Undersecretary, Mohammed Ali Bahzad as Sec-Gen of the Tender Board with the rank of Undersecretary, Waleed Abdulaziz Al-Sabbagh as Director-General of Clearance and Customs Services at the Interior Ministry’s Customs Affairs, and Ahmed Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Mannai as CEO of National Communication Centre.

HM the King also issued Royal Decree on the Competition Promotion and Protection Authority at MoI.  The decree stipulates that the Consumer Protection Directorate at the Ministry shall assume the duties of the Competition Promotion and Protection Authority  until necessary funds are allocated for the Authority in the new state budget, and a decree on forming its Board of Directors is issued. Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry’s Commercial Affairs Undersec shall assume the responsibilities of the CEO of the Competition Promotion and Protection Authority.
