Housemaid, boyfriend sentenced for stealing sponsor’s credit card
The First High Criminal Court has handed down five years jail to a Filipino housemaid and three years jail to her boyfriend after being convicted of stealing her sponsor’s credit card and drawing money from an ATM.
According to court details, the housemaid trapped her Bangladeshi boyfriend in the theft case after asking him to withdraw money using a Visa Card, which she had stolen from her sponsor. The woman fled the Kingdom after asking her boyfriend to withdraw BD200 using the card, for which he landed in police net, the Prosecutors said.
“I received an SMS saying BD200 was withdrawn using my card. I went to the bank and confirmed that the money was stolen and I informed the police,” the victim told prosecutors.
