Expat commits suicide at workplace

An Indian national committed suicide yesterday at his workplace in Malkiya. The deceased, identified as Ram Pratap Singh, 48, hailed from Uttar Pradesh state in India. He is survived by his wife Anita Singh and three children. He was employed as a work supervisor at a private contracting company. 

Mr. Singh, who lives in Muharraq, left his two daughters aged 16 and 20, at home on the night of the incident. When their father failed to return home at the usual time, the girls contacted his workplace resulting in a co-worker discovering the body.    His daughters Sakshi and Shreya Singh are students of the Indian School Bahrain.

The youngest son of the 48-year-old is currently undergoing treatment for cancer in India and is accompanied by his mother. Sources confirmed Mr. Singh committed suicide by hanging from the fan at his office. They added that Mr. Singh was not suffering from any financial liabilities or other problems as such. “Mr. Singh gave his daughters BD200 throwing his arms around them, before leaving home.”
