Flower power to the fore

A series of flower workshops organised by Lalabella Events in co-operation with the National Initiative of Agricultural Development, added special charm to the Bahrain International Garden Show. The programme kicked off with a panel session focusing on “Floristry Career” moderated by Nahla Al Mahmoud, General Manager of Lalabella Events.

It hosted International florist instructor Judith Blackclock from Judith Blackclock School in the UK, and the world floral designer Dimitri Turkan from Russia, and Anfal Al Ansari and Maryam Al Ansari from Lily Fleur Kuwait. Speakers discussed the difficulties and challenges faced by flower designers around the world and in the Arab region, which includes lack of training programmes. Winning the trust, confidence of customers while marketing designs were the focus of workshops. All experts highlighted the opportunities in the field of floristry.

At her workshop, Judith focused on the basics of flower arrangement while Dimitri highlighted flower arrangement techniques. Speaking to Tribune, Ms. Nahla said: “We are privileged for having high official support from Her Excellency Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the National Initiative of Agriculture Development. The event has been a big hit.”
