Spotlight on Bahrain’s diplomatic strides

The Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdulla Al Doseri, met with senior officials and ambassadors on the sidelines of the 40th session of the Human Rights Council, the high-level segment in Geneva.

The Assistant Foreign Minister held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Georgia, Ambassador Lasha Darsalia, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia, Vice-President of the Human Rights Council, Ambassador Vesna Batistic Kos, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Fiji Islands and Vice-President of the Human Rights Council, Ambassador Nazhat Shameem Khan, and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iceland to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Vice-President of the Human Rights Council, Ambassador Harald Aspelund. During the meetings, the Assistant Foreign Minister praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and other friendly countries, stressing the Kingdom’s keenness to further develop its relations in order to achieve common interests.

He also briefed the ambassadors and representatives on the progress of the Kingdom of Bahrain in many areas of human rights, highlighting its prominent initiatives and efforts in the development of health, housing care and services, raising the quality and outcomes of education, advancing Bahraini women, bridging gender gap, and other achievements. 

The ambassadors and representatives praised the growing bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain and expressed their congratulations for the Kingdom’s achievements in the field of human rights, wishing it further progress and success.

A number of topics and issues of mutual interest were discussed, including cooperation in supporting the work of the Human Rights Council and its mechanisms, especially in the framework of the membership of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Council for the years 2019-2021.
