Council plans to establish farmers market

The Muharraq Municipal Council is considering a proposal to establish a farmers market in the Corniche. The council chairman Ghazi Al Murbati said that the proposal was in response to the idea put forward by Muharraq Governor a few weeks ago to establish a market for farmers in the governorate.

The Council has reviewed the detailed report on the farmers market proposal, it is learnt. The report indicated that the proposed land for the project is currently available, which is close to Arad Citadel and the land document is ready, sources said. It is registered in the name of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and is designated for tourism and recreational purposes, they added.

Mr Al Murbati said the proposed site is close to the commercial complex (Saif Muharraq) and is frequented by many families. The report pointed to the readiness of the site in terms of availability of services such as public utilities, parking (396 stand) and children’s games and seating areas.
