HRH Princess Sabeeka Global Award winners named
Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women, expressed happiness over the international community’s interest in HRH Princess Sabeeka Global Award for Women’s Empowerment.
In a recorded speech aired at the winners’ announcement ceremony in New York, HRH Princess Sabeeka said that the award reflects Bahrain’s national expertise in the field of women’s empowerment. She praised the UN support for national efforts and initiatives that uplift women’s status and their empowerment to contribute to the development of their communities in implementation of the sustainable development goals 2030. HRH the Princess expressed appreciation of the jury committee’s interest in following up the progress of the ambitious project.
She invited the winners of the global award to visit the Kingdom to closely learn about their remarkable experiences and initiatives, extending congratulations to them and appreciation of their efforts that have qualified them to be winners.
HH Shaikha Najla bint Hamad Al Khalifa, who was delegated by HRH the Princess to attend the winners ‘ announcement ceremony, commended the huge welcome of UN members and leading political, diplomatic and media personalities to the award, which highlights Bahrain’s commitment to major international issues, among of them is supporting women’s empowerment and rights around the world.
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of UN-women and Head of jury committee of HRH Princess Sabeeka Global Award for women’s Empowerment, expressed delight in the first version of the global award that attained its desired goals, which has introduced Bahrain’s experience in the field of women’s support to the world.
