Parliamentary support to the press affirmed
Council of Representatives Second Deputy Speaker Ali Ahmed Zayed stressed the crucial role of the national press in enlightening the public opinion, hailing its credibility, professionalism and objectivity in raising key issues. Receiving the new Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) board members, led by President Ahdeya Ahmed, he hailed the press and media strides under the reform project initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The reform project, he said, expanded and consolidate freedom of opinion and expression and bolstered the professional role of the press and media enterprises in Bahrain and serve as partners in comprehensive national development. He underlined the directives of the Council of Representatives Speaker Fawziya Zainal, supporting the legislation of new press law that meets the aspirations of the press and media community in Bahrain.
The BJA lauded the parliamentary support and efforts to pass a new, modern and enlightened press law, stressing the importance of the legislation in keeping abreast of the media strides.
