Holi is an ancient Hindu spring festival, originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is celebrated predominantly in India and Nepal but has also spread to other areas of Asia and parts of the Western world through the diaspora from the Indian subcontinent.
Nearly 3,600 people gathered for the ‘Holi Rangotsav’ celebrations organized by the Shri Krishna Temple Manama administrators and Thattai Bhatia Hindu community on THMC Ground, Al Hadrami Avenue, Manama. Speaking to Tribune, Mahesh Bhatia, Chairman of Thattai Bhatia Hindu Community, said: “The festival of Holi is not just limited to Hindus or Indians, it is a festival meant for all. People from various backgrounds gathered here to celebrate the festival of colors.”
“Holi, popularly known as the Festival of Colours, is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month Phagun, which falls in March in the Gregorian calendar. It is celebrated with a lot of gaiety and enthusiasm by young and old alike, who daub colored powder of different hues on each other."
