Bolstering ties through art
For a country that tirelessly boosts cultural ties and better understanding among the diverse population of residents, it comes as no surprise that the various governing bodies and ministries in the Kingdom are also committed to bringing forth campaigns and events that are aligned with the same objective.
“Fantastic Sounds of Korea” a musical concert by an all-female fusion Korean classical music group QUEEN is set to take place on Tuesday, April 2. Jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), and Korea Foundation (KF), the performance will be a splendid audio-visual feast giving a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary sounds.
The event is the second edition of the embassy’s initiative to represent Korean culture through a musical extravaganza and is one of the many events and programmes lined up. In conversation with Tribune, Korean Ambassador to the Kingdom Hyunmo Koo stated he was highly impressed by the turnout at last year’s Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra and expected great things this year too. “I was amazed by the acceptance of the performance last year and I am certain residents will be in awe of how the Korean traditional instruments such as the gayageum, daegeum, and janggu along with the electronic violin will be used to perform classical folk Korean pieces and modern pop covers.” Mr. Koo stated that since his arrival in Bahrain in 2017, he has enjoyed amazing programmes and initiatives that are aimed to build bridges of understanding.
“The people are friendly and open to new cultural experiences, among which that has gained immense response is learning the Korean language at two of the leading educational institutions of Bahrain.”
