Rare honour for Bahrain-based student

A student of St Christopher’s School achieved a rare feat yesterday as the Government of Oman selected one of his pictures to be printed in an official postal stamp. Aryan Shere, 15, drew the picture three years ago while taking part in a competition in Muscat under the theme “Call for Peace”. He was then a student at the British School, Muscat.

Aryan was honored for the painting at a prestigious ceremony held Al Bashaer Palace, Muscat, under the patronage of Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service. Dr. Saleh Al Fahdi, Head of Value Centre, Muscat, commented in his congratulating letter to Aryan, “We are delighted to send congratulations to your school and particularly to Aryan Shere the artist, for such a beautiful painting.

“There were over 160 paintings, so this is indeed an exceptional, excellent image that so clearly depicts Oman’s dedication to world peace.” In Oman, Aryan had earlier won the ‘Portrait by Nation’ competition. He was also selected the winner at contests held in India as well as Qatar.
