Illicit liquor sale ‘flourishing in Gudaibiya’

Illicit liquor sale is flourishing in Gudaibiya, according to local sources. Many expatriates, across apartments, are into brewing illicit liquor in the area and customers come from all parts of the Kingdom to buy a drink from them, sources said. “There are many illegal brewing units in Block 308, beginning Filipino Gardens until Roads 830 and 813.

“There are even salespersons who do door delivery. This business is flourishing in a big way,” the sources added. Local residents and families are also bearing the brunt of these illegal businesses. “Many strangers come to the area to buy liquor. They park their vehicles on the road, at times causing traffic jams and some of them even misbehave with women and children,” a resident, who doesn’t want to be named said.

It is learned that cheap prices are attracting the customers to these “illegal breweries”. “Since they make the drink without following any standards, it gives customers better highs, which is one of the main reasons behind this rush.” Sources said that majority of the customers were expatriates.
