House rejects US stance on Golan Heights

The Council of Representatives, in a statement, confirmed its rejection of the US President Donald Trump’s recognition of the Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, which is an illegal call and does not change the fact and history that the occupied Golan Heights are Syrian Arab lands and will be returned to its legitimate people.

The Council of Representatives affirmed that the US President’s proclamation is in violation of the international law and legitimacy, among of them the UN Security Council resolution 497/1981, which considered the Israeli annexation of the Syrian Golan Heights is null and void and without international legal effect, it also called on Israel to rescind its action.

The Council of Representative's statement called on the international parliamentary community to take action immediately by addressing the United Nations, states and governments to reject the US President’s proclamation.

It hailed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm stance supportive to the Republic of Syria, respecting its sovereignty and protecting its lands and safety of its people.

Last week, President Donald Trump added a new notch to his belt of shock foreign policy moves, signing a proclamation officially recognizing Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, which it captured from Syria in 1967 and has occupied ever since.
