Requirements for new ID card revealed
Information and e-Government Authority (IEA) has officially revealed requirements for the new ID cards.
- Image must be colored with a gray background
- The image should be recent, not more than 6 months old
- The face size should represent 70% to 80% of the image with the head and the shoulders up close
- The eyes must be clear and hair does not conceal any part of the face or eyes
- Low or excessive brightness in the image must be avoided and the person must be in a straight position and looking directly to the camera
- Wearing scarf for males “Ghorta” or females “Hijab” must not affect the general appearance of the person and does not hide the basic features of the face
- In regards to those who wear glasses the image must clearly show the eyes and there must be no light reflection because of the glasses. Thick glasses, the circular stated, or glasses with thick frames are preferred to be avoided or at least make sure they don’t cover any part of the eyes. Images that include colored lenses or glasses that conceal the original color of the eyes will not be accepted.
- About children images, the IEA stipulated that the child should appear alone in the image. If the child is under 5 years of age, the circular stated, he or she should not look directly at the camera. If the child is under one year of age, the eyes should not be open and if the child’s head is based on someone else’s hand, it must be visible in the image.
