Region’s largest church to be opened in Bahrain in Sept 2020
The largest Church in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) currently under construction in the Kingdom is due to be inaugurated in September 2020, it is learned.
The seat of the Roman Catholic Church’s Vicariate of Northern Arabia, Bishop Camillo Ballin, has been moved to the Kingdom. On May 31, 2011, Bishop Camillo Ballin became the first Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia. He oversees the territories of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
Speaking to Tribune, Bishop Camillo Ballin revealed that the infrastructure project costs approximately 10 Million Bahraini Dinars. “This is an accomplishment for the Christian Community,” stated Bishop Camillo Ballin.
“The seat of the Roman Catholic Church’s Vicariate of Northern Arabia has been transferred from Kuwait to Bahrain in August 2012, therefore I was able to obtain a Bahraini passport,” he added.
