Educator arrested for assaulting disabled child
An educator at one of the centres in the Capital Governorate for educating and training people with special needs, has been recently arrested for assaulting a child at the centre, it was announced yesterday.
According to a statement issued by the Public Prosecution yesterday, the woman is an Arab national and has physically assaulted a disabled child she was in charge of caring for.
In the statement, Deputy Attorney General of the Family and Child Prosecution Nasser Al Sheeb explained: “The Public Prosecution received a notification from the Capital Governorate Police Directorate stating that the suspect, an Arab woman, who works as an Education Specialist at one of the centres for the education and training of people with special needs, had physically assaulted one of the students at the centre. The student is from the people with disabilities category.”
The official affirmed in the statement that a probe was launched into the details of the incident immediately after it was reported to the Public Prosecution. Mr Al Sheeb said the suspect was summoned and interrogated.
The woman was accused by the prosecution of assault and she confessed to her crime. The prosecution ordered to detain her for seven days pending further investigation, while a trial date before the Fourth Minor Criminal Court has been set to be on April 16, 2019. No further details were available on the condition of the child.
