Spotlight on SCW strides

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al Ansari, has been hosted by the International Peace Institute (IPI) in a meeting to shed light on Bahrain’s efforts in the advancement of women and the achievement of the sustainable development agenda and goals (SDGs 2030).

Ms. Al Ansari pointed out Bahrain’s activities as an active member of the UN Commission on the Status of Women 2017 – 2021, UN-Women Executive Board 2017-2019 and the Arab Women’s Committee of the Arab League. She noted the impact of the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment that has been adopted by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women), in addition to the announcement of Manama as the first Arab Women’s Capital in 2017.

She stated that Bahrain is working towards many of the sustainable development goals related to women and is being monitored by the Supreme Council for Women as the national consultative institution concerned with monitoring policies, plans, and programmes to promote and sustain the presence of Bahraini women in various fields.
