Tackle price rise
The Cabinet yesterday chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, gave directives to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism to tighten control over the prices of various goods and commodities to prevent their manipulation by taking advantage of rising demand.
The same ministry was also requested to ensure the availability of commodities, as well as the stability of their prices in the markets. The directive aims at containing price manipulation by controlling supplies of various goods and commodities during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Among other things, HRH the Premier gave orders to increase the value of social assistance granted to social insurance beneficiaries and the recipients of the disability allowance.
The Prime Minister gave directives to the Labour and Social Development Ministry to begin disbursing the allowances to the beneficiaries to alleviate the living costs on low-income families and enable them to meet the requirements of the holy month of Ramadan.
