HH Shaikh Khalid attends second Asian Amateur MMA Championship
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee arrived in Thailand capital Bangkok to attend the Second Asian Amateur MMA Championship. Organised by the IMMAF, the event will feature several Bahraini MMA fighters.
Welcoming HH Shaikh Khalid upon his arrival in Thailand was Bahrain’s Ambassador to Thailand Ahmed Abdullah Al Hajeri and several members of the Bahraini diplomatic mission in Thailand. On this occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid stressed that the Bahraini participation in the event comes as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to bolster its ties and collaboration with the IMMAF to develop the MMA sport at the Asian level.
He added that Bahrain has taken several steps to ensure the spread of this sport around the continent. He further explained: “We have drawn up a strategy for our MMA sport to allow it to conquer international arenas. It has proved successful to this point by allowing our national fighters to compete in international and continental events to upgrade their capabilities and abilities.”
