Arsonists lose appeal
The Court of Cassation has rejected the appeals of two men who were found guilty, along with six others including a minor, for attacking policemen using Molotov cocktails and torching a police patrol vehicle.
The defendants were sentenced to seven years in jail and ordered to pay BD14, 000 as compensation for the vehicle they have burnt. The minor was jailed for three years. According to court files, the incident occurred on 30 January 2017 on Shaikh Zayed Highway near Aali.
Records say, the defendants gathered there and attacked a police patrol vehicle stationed there using Molotov cocktails. The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of two of the defendants, who revealed the identities of others involved.
