Housing Ministry to amend construction regulations
Bahrain’s Housing Ministry yesterday announced an initiative to amend the construction regulatory requirements in residential areas. The move, the ministry statement said, will be held in coordination with the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Capital Municipal Council.
“The initiative has been launched in response to the citizens’ desire in this regard,” the Ministry said. The Housing Ministry added that it had submitted proposals on amending the construction requirements for the housing areas. The proposals include that for cancellation of the building ban during the first year since the receipt of the housing unit, as well as allowing the installation of front shades according to two models that are being studied.
The Ministry said it had contacted the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to take necessary action to implement the new rule as it is the body concerned with issuing construction permits. The minister said it has also contacted the municipal councils to ensure their approval of the amendments.
