Group of teens attack man

Police are reportedly on the hunt for a group of kids who attacked and attempted to rob a man in Manama. One of the suspects has been taken into custody. The investigation is continuing to catch others in the group.

Rakesh, an Indian national, was walking through an alley in Manama at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday when he was approached by a group of young kids. The kids demanded Rakesh hand over his phone and money. When he refused, the group assaulted him. He suffered bruises all over his body, a broken arm and a swollen face from the attack.

Explaining the ordeal, he said, “They were just around 16 years of age and spoke to each other in Arabic. “I had this very heavy headache since morning and was at a hospital in Manama for consultation. “By 9:30 pm, I walked back home through one of the alleys there. “However, after a few minutes, these aggressive looking kids confronted me. They wanted me to “hand over the money.” “I refused and walked on.

Told them: “I don’t have any money.” “Suddenly, they attacked me. “They tried to snatch my phone and wallet, before punching me on my face and twisting my arms and legs. “Fortunately, passersby noticed the commotion and came over. “Citing people, they panicked and ran away.”

Despite suffering injuries, Rakesh managed to register a case against the attackers the same night itself. “At around 10:30, I was at a police station and filed a case. “The officers assured me that they would catch the culprits quickly,” he said.
