Father beats up policemen in a bid to help ‘wanted’ son escape

A one year prison sentence was upheld by the High Criminal Court for a father found guilty of aiding and abetting the escape of his ‘wanted’ son by assaulting two policemen.

The incident took place when police officers arrived in Hamad Town to immure the son who had an arrest warrant issued against him.

The son who was seated inside a car parked near his residence attempted to flee upon discovering the presence of the policemen, who chased down the wanted man and apprehended him.

Moments later the father arrived on the scene and began beating the two policemen until the son was able to escape their grasp.

Eventually, both the father and son were detained by the policemen and presented to the High Criminal Court where the father received a one year sentence and his son was given a six month sentence.
