Rumors of special pardon for inmate refuted
Online reports claiming an inmate has received a special pardon half way through his sentence has been refuted by the Director-General of Reformation and Rehabilitation.
The Director General disregarded the viral rumors as attempts to promote sedition.
He clarified that the inmate was released from the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre in Jau on May 23rd by a judge order after being covered by the alternative punishments system.
The inmate has already served two years and four months of his four year and seven month sentence.
The remainder of his sentence will be served through the alternative punishment which will involve attending community services and rehabilitation and training programmes.
