Son, mother lose appeal in cops assault case

A Bahraini man and his mother convicted of assaulting cops and resisting arrest got their appeals rejected yesterday. The suspect was wanted by the police to interrogate on his role in torching a car parked near a house in the Capital Governorate last year. Police also secured an arrest warrant against him.

However, the suspect fiercely resisted the attempts with the help of his mother. According to court, the suspect attacked the police officers with a knife alongside his mother, which resulted in their arrest. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crime after accusing the victim of sexual assault.

The suspect claimed that the victim assaulted him sexually 10 years ago. “I wanted to avenge that.”
