AGU to participate in ‘MoodleMoots’ conference in Australia

The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has been chosen as the first Arab university to present its Moodle Platform experiment in a specialised international conference that will be held on July 1 in Melbourne, Australia. AGU will present its experiment among leading international educational institutions and renowned individuals in the field of electronic education. In the conference, AGU’s E-learning Specialist Arban Stephen will highlight the developmental steps achieved by AGU in the field of e-learning through the use of the Moodle programme for different uses in education and assessment.

Titled “MoodleMoots”, the three-day conference aims, through a number of workshops and discussion panels, to shed light on the Moodle platform and its effective role in the development of the educational process, as well as other fields. On his part, AGU Deputy President Dr. Khaled Saeed Tabbara, asserted that the university has achieved remarkable progress in the field of open learning, as it utilises the Moodle electronic platform to provide sources of education, receive students’ projects and assess the results of practical training for medical students in hospitals and health centres.

Dr. Tabbara also stated that AGU will soon enter an exceptional new phase of technology-based education, by launching the electronic exams at the College of Medicine and Medical Science and the College of Graduate Studies in the university. It’s worth mentioning that AGU has included, in its strategic plans for the years 2017-2021, strengthening innovation in education, through investing in developing an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) base in the university, and to depend more on the open learning technology
