72,000 tons of waste extracted in three months
Director General of the Northern Municipality Eng. Lamia Al-Fadhala, revealed that an astounding 72,000 tons of waste was extracted during the first third of 2019 accounting to 602 tons on a daily basis.
The Northern Municipality has invested major efforts in maintaining the cleanliness and raising awareness with regard to the environmental effects of hygienic negligence as well as management of waste.
Of the 72,000 tons of waste, the majority amounting to 46,000 was accounted as domestic waste while construction based waste accounted for 11,000 tons with agricultural waste adding up to 14,000 tons.
Eng. Lamia Al-Fadhala stated that domestic waste has been a major contributor with nearly 387 tons on daily basis and urges citizens and residents to collaborate with the Municipality in reducing waste and ensure lawful practices with discarding waste.
