192 building permits issued for investment
Bahrain’s construction sector recorded encouraging growth in the first quarter of 2019, thanks to impressive economic growth. “The strength of the economic indicators in the first quarter acted as an incentive for the Ministry to continue implementing strategic investment projects,” said the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam Khalaf.
A total of 2,576 building permits were issued in the first quarter, an increase of 4.2pc from the year-earlier quarter. The Municipal One Stop Shop issued 192 building permits with an estimated value of around BD179 million and across an estimated 652,000 sq meters of land. Key projects include the expansion of the Bahrain International Airport and the second phase of Al-Dur Water and Power Project.
“The increase in building permits is indicative of a robust, resilient and investment-friendly economy,” said the Minister highlighting the vital role of the Benayat system in accelerating permit issuance.
