Cabinet slams Doha for ‘backtracking’ on talks
The Cabinet chaired by HRH the Crown Prince yesterday condemned Qatar for rejecting the outcome of recent Makkah talks on regional tensions with Iran as well as backtracking on the summits’ conclusions.
“By failing to condemn external interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, Qatar has shown to the world that its agenda conflicts with the best interests of the region,” His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister said during the Cabinet meeting held at Gudaibiya Palace. Dr Yasser bin Issa Al-Nasser, the Cabinet Secretary-General, revealed this during a post-cabinet press briefing.
The Cabinet meeting hailed HM, the King’s speech at the summits as reflecting the joint visions of the GCC nations and Arab and Islamic countries. Bahrain, at the summits, affirmed full solidarity in safeguarding the region from terrorist regimes and affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent, sovereign state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In this regard, the Cabinet stressed the importance of establishing a comprehensive, two-state solution following the Arab Peace Initiative. Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Arab League summits and the 14th session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation took place in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs presented the most important results and resolutions issued during the summits to HRH the Crown Prince.
Moving on, HRH the Crown Prince congratulated the students who finished their examinations, wishing them success in their future educational endeavours. On the upcoming World Environment Day, HRH the Crown Prince reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to protecting the environment, combat air pollution, and support the international community.
The Cabinet chaired by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister yesterday discussed several submissions, memorandums and proposed laws during the meeting.
5G spectrum
The Cabinet approved a memorandum by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications to allocate frequencies, including the 800 and 2600 MHz and 3400 to 3700 MHz, in different spectrums, for rolling out services including 5G.
Practising law, medicine
The Cabinet discussed a memorandum by the Deputy Prime Minister on enacting disciplinary sanctions in professions such as law, medicine, engineering and pharmacy. Penalties include suspension from practising the profession and revocation of the license to practise.
It will precede oral investigations, written warnings and fines. The Cabinet referred the memorandum to the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs.
Identifying talents
The Cabinet approved an MOU between Bahrain’s Ministry of Education and the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity. The MOU sets the framework for the exchange of information, including identifying talents as well as participating in local and international competitions. Early Detection of Cancer
The Cabinet welcomed the launch of the National Campaign for Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer through King Hamad Hospital in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and under the supervision of the Supreme Council of Health, as part of the Executive Plan for Cancer Control for the years 2016-2025.
The campaign focuses on males and females in the age group for 45-75 years. The first phase will include 5000 people from the Muharraq Governorate.
Advt on sport facilities
The Cabinet discussed a memorandum by the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs regarding the possibility of placing advertisements on buildings dedicated to sports facilities and stadiums.
