Youth remanded for sexual abuse

In a shocking incident, a 29-year-old man alleged to have sexually abused a woman in her fifties before attacking her husband and son. According to court files, the victim woke up in the early morning to find a stranger sleeping beside her in their bed, with his hands inside her night wear. 

The accused fled the scene after the victim started screaming in panic. The victim’s 71-year-old husband, who was at home at the time of the incident, came to her rescue hearing the screams. But he was punched in the eye by the accused, before the latter dragged him for a long distance, court files read. 

He reportedly proceeded with his assault until the victim lost his conscious.  The victim’s son later came to help his father following a tip-off from his shocked mother, but he was also attacked with a hoe and a plank on his head. 

“I cried for help and my husband rushed in the room,” the woman said in her statement. “Unfortunately, I was too old to stop him, thus I went to my son and I told him that there was a thief. When he came to help, he was also beaten, not just with the guy’s hand, but with hoe and a plank. And he later fled off,” she said.

The accused has appeared yesterday before the High Criminal Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges of sexual abuse, assault and entering trespassing.  

He, however, was ordered to be remanded in police custody for 15 days, pending investigations.
