Call to prevent ‘sabotage attacks’
Top Bahraini and Polish officials yesterday called for concerted efforts by the international community to fend off threats against global energy security. The officials during a political consultation between Bahrain and Poland also called for changing the strategy of providing incentives to countries that threaten international peace and security citing the recent “sabotage attacks” in the strategic shipping lane.
On May 12, two Saudi oil tankers and two other vessels were damaged in mysterious “sabotage attacks” in the Gulf of Oman off the United Arab Emirates. The meeting was co-chaired by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. The Polish delegation was led by Undersecretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maciej Lang at the Court of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting tackled the overall relations and ways of developing them and exchanged views on the current regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest. Dr Shaikh Abdullah recalled his last official visit to Warsaw in November 2017 for political consultations during which he attended a reception in the Presidential Palace.
Dr Shaikh Abdullah said the Kingdom is looking forward to Poland participation in the implementation of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 programs and projects to serve common interests. The Undersecretary for International Affairs noted the joint efforts of the countries in countering terrorism and its financial and ideological sources, following the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
