A special day for yoga fans

Special yoga sessions will be held across the Kingdom today marking the International Day of Yoga. The Indian Embassy along with the Ministry of Youth and Sport will organise the ‘Yogafest21’ at Khalifa Sports City Stadium from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm. All yoga enthusiasts have been urged to participate. “Yoga is a journey from ‘me’ to ‘we’.

In today’s world, people suffer from stress related ailments and also lifestyle related diseases. Yoga offers a solution to these ailments,” the embassy said in a press release issued. “The lecture demonstration at the event would bring out the salient features of how practising Yoga help fight stress and find peace. “As food plays an important role in achieving holistic health, yoga event would be followed by a vegetarian food festival,” the statement added.

Another event will be organised together by 24 Indian organisations. The organisers said that 1,500 yoga enthusiasts are expected to attend the Yogotsav19, which will be held at Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Park (Al Hidd Garden). The event will start at 5pm, they added. In the UAE, thousands of residents will be hitting their yoga mats today for the celebrations led by the Indian missions in the country.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai, which are leading the Yoga Day activities for the fifth year, said they have received the support of the UAE authorities in all the emirates to host the event. In Abu Dhabi, the event will be held at Umm Al Emarat Park at 7pm on June 20.

Free entry, parking, yoga mats and yoga T-shirts would be provided to all the participants on first come basis, it is learnt. Shaikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, the Minister of Tolerance of UAE, would be the chief guest, announced Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri.
