Low radiation scanning facility available at four health centres

Both citizens and residents can now avail ‘low radiation’ scans after BD400,000 worth medical equipment were distributed to four main health centres in the Kingdom, it was revealed. The move is part of the Health Ministry’s efforts to provide upgraded health services to the citizens and residents. The health centres have been provided with state-of-the-art devices for its radiology department, the Health Ministry sources said. The centres that received the equipment are Jidhafs Health Centre, A’ali Health Centre, Hamad Kanoo Health Centre, and National Bank of Bahrain Health Centre in Arad.  “These multi-purpose devices can be used to diagnose bone and spinal diseases, chest infections, throat infections, for young as well as older patients.

“This can also be used in emergency cases of accidents and fractures,” a ministry official said.   “The new devices are highly advanced with sophisticated modern technology equipped with digital services. “It will be faster and more accurate than older technology. It will provide very high resolution images, which will help correctly diagnose diseases. “The devices also promises to emit less radiation ensuring that the patient receives minimal amount of radiation.”

The ministry has taken several steps to improve the health services provided to residents in recent weeks. Earlier this month, it was announced that two additional health centres have been directed to operate around the clock.

Since the start of this month, Shaikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Health Centre in Barbar, Mohammed Jassim Kanoo Health Centre in Hamad Town, Hamad Kanoo Health Centre in Riffa, Muharraq Health Centre and Isa Town Health Centre, have begun receiving patients round the clock.
