Need to donate blood stressed

The General Secretary of Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), Dr Fawzi Abdullah Amin, has stressed the keenness of the society, under the guidance of the chairman, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, to participate actively in various humanitarian and volunteer activities in the Kingdom.

This came during a blood donor day campaign organised by Arad Village Charity Society in co-operation with Blood Bank and BRCS. Dr Amin said that blood donation is a voluntary act of humanity that embodies the highest meaning of giving.

“This donation is reflected in the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, namely, humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.” He praised the participation of board directors at the event. “Being a doctor, I have seen situations where emergency surgeries needed to be stopped due to lack of blood for the patient. So, we always emphasise that the initiative to donate blood saves the lives of many patients.”

“It is a donation to every person in need, regardless of religion, race, gender and nationality. This humanitarian event reflects the principle of universality and unity.” Dr Amin praised and thanked blood donors for taking part in the humanitarian initiative. He also hailed the key role played by Blood Bank.
