Isa Award winner named

Pakistan-based Edhi Foundation has been selected the winner of the fourth edition of Isa Award for Service to Humanity. This was announced yesterday by the award board of trustees led by Deputy Prime Minister HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Khalifa. The decision was made following research carried out by the Award’s Secretariat-General and the jury on the Edhi Foundation’s work and achievements in the humanitarian field.

In a speech during the press conference, HH Shaikh Mohammed paid tribute to the late Amir, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, whose name the Award carries, noting that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa launched the Award and named it after the late Amir to keep the torch of goodness burning, and to honor whoever contributes to serving humanity.

One-million US dollar cash prize, a pure gold medal and a high-level certificate of appreciation will be awarded to the laureate of the biennial award during a grand royal ceremony, to be held under the auspices of HM King Hamad in November 2019, in the presence of world celebrities, alongside official delegations.
