Plans to boost green economy stressed at leading Mena forum
Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussein Mirza took part in the Middle East and North Africa High-Level Forum on Green Economy 2019, being held in Bahrain until Thursday. Dr. Mirza stressed that the leadership in Bahrain supports all international efforts in the transformation of the green economy, especially in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency and optimal use of water resources.
The clean economy is considered environmentally friendly and an important source of economy, the minister noted. The minister said the conference represents an important opportunity for Bahrain to benefit from the experiences of other countries, and the latest developments related to this area to find solutions to ensure and keep pace with development.
It also aims to strengthen the economy and attract investments without disturbing the environment, he pointed out. The seminar focused on the importance of achieving sustainable development in the region by raising awareness about the concept of a green economy, strengthening partnership at the regional level and adopting green investment mechanisms.
Dr. Mirza highlighted the success of Bahrain in developing the National Renewable Energy Strategy and the establishment of the Sustainable Energy Centre, which is a key focus of investment in renewable energy that promotes a green economy.
