Six mega water projects launched to serve Hajj pilgrims
Under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Prince Khaled Al Faisal, emir of Makkah Province, adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and chairman of the Central Hajj Committee, the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture inaugurated a number of water projects in Makkah and the holy sites worth over Saudi riyal 3.1 billion, coinciding with the Hajj season for this year, Saudi Press Agency reported.
Prince Badr Bin Sultan, deputy emir of Makkah Province, and Prince Mishal Bin Majed, governor of Jeddah, were also present at the launch. On this occasion, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Bin Abdulmuhsen Al Fadhli said: “The inauguration of the six mega water projects carried out by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), National Water Company (NWC) and Saudi Water Partnerships Company (SWPC), is a confirmation of the continuing care and attention accorded by the Kingdom’s wise leadership for the water sector and its services in Makkah and the holy sites.”
He added: “The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has always been keen to ensure that its water projects and plans are based on the National Strategic Goals for Water and the comprehensive water plans in the Kingdom, in an endeavour to reach a sustainable water sector that will develop and preserve the water resources, protect the environment and provide high quality and efficient services that will contribute to socio-economic development.”
