Iraq’s Interior Minister Yassin Al Yasiri received Ambassador of Bahrain to Iraq, Salah Al Maliki yesterday. The Iraqi minister noted the solid bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Iraq, expressing his pride for the development of these relations at all levels.
He also guaranteed all the necessary measures to ensure that the ambassador’s duties are done smoothly after resuming his duties. The ambassador expressed his pleasure to have met with the Iraqi minister, stressing the Kingdom’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Iraq at all levels, namely in the field of security.
He also extended his thanks to the support of Al Yasiri and his keenness on the safety of the Embassy of Bahrain in Baghdad and the support he has been given to carry out his duties. He also wished the Republic of Iraq further progress and prosperity. Various issues of shared interest were discussed in the meeting.
A few weeks ago, more than 200 demonstrators broke into the courtyard of Bahrain’s Embassy in Baghdad and took down the Kingdom’s flag to protest a US-led meeting that was held in the Kingdom on Israeli-Palestinian peace. Police used live rounds to disperse the crowd, with no injuries reported. Condemning the attack, the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry had recalled its ambassador to Iraq for consultations on the incident.
